WASHINGTON, DC – Today, CFFE Executive Director Sondra Goldschein released the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s attempt to freeze funding for essential programs that provide working families with the tools and opportunities they need to build a good life.

“A mere two weeks into his presidency, Donald Trump is already putting his extreme agenda and billionaire buddies ahead of American families by wreaking havoc on critical programs that millions rely on to both earn a living and take care of their families. This isn’t just a disastrous policy move–it’s a direct attack on working families across the country.

While President Trump attempts to muddy the waters about what exactly his action means, his recklessness has thrown the country into chaos – creating enough fear and confusion to temporarily shut down essential services like Medicaid and Head Start before the courts could step in.

Even if Trump loses this legal battle, make no mistake: this is his blueprint for the future, and he and his Project 2025 allies will try to attack these programs again. The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy will vigilantly call out Trump and the politicians who callously play games with the economic lifelines that working families need to care for their loved ones.”
