Republicans Who Claim To Be ‘Pro-Family’ Instead Serve Up Tax Cuts for Ultra-Rich at the Expense of Working Families

February 26, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, in response to House Republicans’ budget vote, Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy Executive Director Sondra Goldschein released the following statement:

“The best way to know where someone’s priorities lie is to follow the money. And last night, House Republicans sent a clear message: They’re for billionaires—not  working families. All but one member of the Republican caucus voted for a budget that will increase costs for families, undermine health care for 90 million Americans, slash food assistance, and gut funding for public education—all to fund tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk.

“Budgets are moral documents that reveal what and who we value. With this vote, Republicans put their feet on the necks of working families. The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy intends to hold them accountable.”

The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy is fighting for a future where all people can afford to care for themselves and their loved ones. We do this by building political power to pass policies that lower costs for families, like paid family and medical leave, quality, affordable child care and elder care.
