WASHINGTON, DC – In response to President Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress, Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy Executive Director Sondra Goldschein released the following statement:
“This evening, President Trump painted a picture of an economy that simply does not exist for working families across this country. He talked about prosperity — but for whom? Certainly not the Head Start providers forced to temporarily shut down because of his federal funding freeze. Not the parents stuck choosing between caring for a loved one or keeping their job. And not the families watching the cost of everyday essentials go up while Trump revels in his trade wars.
“If the President was serious about helping working families, he’d back the widely popular policies that actually make life more affordable – like paid leave, child care, and elder care. But he’s too busy delighting as congressional Republicans and Elon Musk callously toy with people’s lives and livelihoods. But Mr. President, working families know: this is not a game for us.”

The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy is fighting for a future where all people can afford to care for themselves and their loved ones. We do this by building political power to pass policies that lower costs for families, like paid family and medical leave, quality, affordable child care and elder care.
