ICYMI: The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy Launches Affordable Iowa

The Million-Dollar Campaign Will Demand Reps. Nunn and Miller-Meeks Support Policies That Will Lower Costs for Working Families

November 20, 2025

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy (CFFE) launched Affordable Iowa, a new million-dollar accountability campaign calling out Reps. Zach Nunn and Mariannette Miller-Meeks for siding with corporate interests instead of lowering costs for working families. Affordable Iowa will leverage a paid field and relational organizing program as well as digital content elevating real stories from Iowans to push Nunn and Miller-Meeks to support policies that lower costs.

To kick off the campaign, Affordable Iowa placed a billboard along the route that Rep. Nunn takes to the airport when he travels to Washington, DC to represent Iowans in the House of Representatives.

“Affordable Iowa gives families across the state a platform to stand up and say, ‘enough,’ to their representatives and to invite their neighbors to join them in demanding change,” said Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy Executive Director Sondra Goldschein. “Reps. Nunn and Miller-Meeks chose to drive up costs for the very people they’re supposed to fight for. Iowans know when they’re being sold out, and they won’t stay quiet about it any longer. We are calling on them to stop pushing policies that raise costs and start delivering real relief for Iowa families.”

Affordable Iowa launches as Nunn and Miller-Meeks continue to support policies that exacerbate the ongoing affordability crisis. They’ve voted to let Affordable Care Act premium tax credits expire — increasing costs for more than 130,000 Iowans — cut nutrition assistance used by one in twelve households, put Social Security benefits for nearly 700,000 Iowans at risk and back tariffs that would drive up prices on everyday goods. Iowa families must stretch every dollar, cut back on groceries and child care and even split prescriptions to make ends meet. With these votes, Nunn and Miller-Meeks have exacerbated the affordability crisis at every turn. It’s past time for them to uphold their responsibility and enact changes to make life more affordable for the families they serve.

Affordable Iowa is working to expose elected leaders who claim to stand with working families but repeatedly side against them when it matters most. As costs for everyday necessities like groceries, child care, and health care continue to rise, Affordable Iowa is   mobilizing communities to demand real action to lower costs and pushing members of Congress to take meaningful action.
