Governor Tim Walz Centers Child Care, Paid Leave on the Debate Stage

October 1, 2024

WASHINGTON Sondra Goldschein, Executive Director of the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) released the following statement applauding Tim Walz for highlighting top-of-mind, kitchen-table economic solutions during tonight’s vice presidential debate.

“Tonight Governor Walz affirmed what CFFE PAC knows from knocking on more than two million voters’ doors this cycle: policies that lower the cost of living, and especially the cost of caregiving, are front-and-center for American families. Walz rightly acknowledged child care as ‘the biggest issue’ and affirmed the struggles of millions of working people to both care for their loved ones and earn a paycheck in this economy. Meanwhile JD Vance couldn’t offer a clear answer on how he and Donald Trump would solve the child care crisis and described child care as a matter of choice — once again showing voters how woefully out-of-touch the Trump-Vance ticket is with working families.”

As Governor, Walz built a strong record lowering costs for Minnesota families, passing paid family and medical leave, enacting the largest state child tax credit in the nation, and bringing down prescription drug costs. CFFE PAC is proud to be communicating with voters in battleground states each day to deliver a Democratic trifecta and give Harris and Walz the chance to lead this agenda from Washington.

In 2020, CFFE PAC spent almost $18 million on a program in support of Joe Biden and U.S. Senate candidates that spanned Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Iowa, Montana, Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Florida and Georgia.
