Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC Endorses Tammy Baldwin for Re-election to the U.S. Senate

CFFE PAC Will Run a Multi-Million Dollar Independent Expenditure Program in Support of Sen. Baldwin with the Goal of Knocking More than 600,000 Voters’ Doors

September 16, 2024

WASHINGTON Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of Tammy Baldwin for U.S. Senate. Family-friendly policies that combat the high cost of caregiving are top of mind for voters in this election, and Senator Baldwin has proven herself to be a champion for the working families of Wisconsin.

CFFE PAC is one of the country’s largest field operations talking to voters in battleground states this election cycle. This endorsement comes as part of CFFE PAC’s 2024 electoral program and its historic $40 million effort to drive votes for Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Tammy Baldwin, and Democrats in battleground states including Wisconsin. CFFE PAC is running robust door-to-door field and relational organizing programs, paid advertising, and direct mail to elect candidates who champion policies that prioritize family budgets – including paid leave, quality, affordable child and elder care, and affordable prescription drugs– over Republican extremist agendas that hurt families and make it difficult to get by and impossible to get ahead.

CFFE PAC recently announced that it has knocked on one million voters’ doors throughout the battleground states, and aims to knock on another two million voters’ doors in the final two months before election day. In August, CFFE PAC and Priorities USA launched new digital ads in Wisconsin highlighting Vice President Harris’ commitment to ensuring families have access to affordable, high-quality child care and paid family leave.

Senator Baldwin has a long record of voting in favor of legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs for seniors and policies that provide relief for working parents and child care providers, including the Inflation Reduction Act and the American Rescue Plan Act.

She was instrumental in the passage of a bill that provided a $1 billion increase for child care and early learning programs in 2023, which included funding for Head Start. She also introduced the Long-Term Care Workforce Support Act to provide substantial new funding to support workers in every part of the long-term care industry, from nursing homes to home-care, to assisted living facilities.

In contrast, her opponent Eric Hovde has embraced Donald Trump, whose Project 2025 agenda would block the government from negotiating drug prices and increase the cost of medications for almost 300,000 Wisconsinites. It would also strip nearly 15,000 children in Wisconsin of access to early childhood education by eliminating Head Start.

“Senator Baldwin is a steadfast champion for women and working families struggling to meet the high cost of caregiving,” said Sondra Goldschein, Executive Director of CFFE PAC. “Her leadership in the Senate has been marked by a focus on solving the kitchen-table challenges that impact the people of Wisconsin. On the other hand, Eric Hovde has shamefully disparaged seniors living in nursing homes and is focused on extremist policies banning abortion. CFFE PAC will be out in force knocking on doors and telling Wisconsin voters what’s at stake in this race.We are working hard to keep Tammy Baldwin in the Senate advocating for policies that give Wisconsin families the tools and opportunities they need to thrive.”

Across the country and in Wisconsin, voters support kitchen-table economic solutions that will lower the cost of caregiving.

  • 70% of adults would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports expanding childcare options for families.
  • Four in five women – nearly 90% of Democratic women and 68% of Republican women – identified paid family and medical leave as an important factor to their vote in the presidential election.
  • 85% of voters in battleground states favor paid parental, family, and medical leave.

“Senator Baldwin has proven to Wisconsinites that she has our backs, fighting to expand access to affordable healthcare and ensuring that no one has to choose between paying for groceries or life-saving medication,” said Kat Klawes, a Milwaukee resident. “As a cancer survivor and someone with complex healthcare needs, I know she is fighting for me and my family by lowering drug prices, expanding access to critical treatments, and ensuring that our healthcare system works for everyone.”
