Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC Endorses Jon Tester for Reelection to the U.S. Senate

CFFE PAC Will Run One of the Largest Independent Expenditure Field Programs in Support of Sen. Tester with the Goal of Knocking on 500,000 Voters’ Doors

September 12, 2024

WASHINGTON Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of Jon Tester for U.S. Senate. Family-friendly policies that combat the high cost of caregiving are top of mind for voters in this election, and Senator Tester has proven himself to be a champion for the working families of Montana.

CFFE PAC is running one of the country’s largest field operations talking to voters in battleground states this election cycle. In the must-win state of Montana, CFFE PAC has five field offices across the state to support the reelection of Senator Tester. This endorsement comes as part of CFFE PAC’s 2024 electoral program and its historic $40 million effort to drive votes for Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Jon Tester, and Democrats in battleground states including Montana. CFFE PAC is running robust door-to-door field and relational organizing programs, paid advertising, and direct mail to elect candidates who champion policies that prioritize family budgets – including paid leave, quality, affordable child and elder care, and affordable prescription drugs – over Republican agendas that hurt families and make it difficult to get by and impossible to get ahead. CFFE PAC recently announced that it has knocked on one million voters’ doors throughout the battleground states, and aims to knock on another two million voters’ doors in the final two months before Election Day.

During his tenure in the Senate, Jon Tester secured more than $3.6 million in funding for Head Start in Montana. He also voted in favor of the American Rescue Plan, which provided millions in relief for child care providers, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped the price of insulin and lowered drug prices for seniors.

In contrast, his opponent Tim Sheehy embraces policies like those in Project 2025 that would increase the cost of medications for more than 54,000 Montanans and strip nearly 3,870 children in Montana of access to early childhood education through the Head Start Program. Additionally, Tim Sheehy lies and spreads misinformation about abortion care and pushes extreme policies that would rip away Montanans’ health care.

“Jon Tester is a champion for working families in Montana and across the country,” said Sondra Goldschein, Executive Director of CFFE PAC. “We can’t afford to lose his common-sense approach to lowering costs and advocating for the tools and opportunities that rural families especially need to get ahead. CFFE PAC will be out in force knocking on doors and talking to Montana voters about what’s at stake in this race, and showing them that Jon Tester is the only candidate who has their backs. Our expansive field operation will work in overdrive to keep Jon Tester in the Senate fighting for policies that make a difference to working families, like lower prescription drug prices and child care tax credits.”

Across the country and in Montana, voters support kitchen-table economic solutions that will lower the cost of caregiving.

  • 70% of adults would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports expanding child care options for families.
  • Four in five women – nearly 90% of Democratic women and 68% of Republican women – identified paid family and medical leave as an important factor to their vote in the presidential election.
  • 85% of voters in battleground states favor paid parental, family, and medical leave.

“I want someone in Washington who knows Montana like I know Montana and will fight for families like mine every single day in the Senate,” said Anaconda, Montana, resident Joe Strelnik. “Prescription drug prices are too high, and no Montanan should have to struggle to afford the care they need. I am voting for Jon Tester because I know he will prioritize bringing down these costs and create an economy that works for people like me.”

The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) is fighting for a future where all people can afford to care for themselves and their loved ones. In 2022, CFFE PAC ran a $13.5 million program communicating with voters about where candidates stand on policies that lower the cost of prescription drugs, ensure paid family and medical leave, and provide affordable elder and child care. In 2020, CFFE PAC spent almost $18 million on a program in support of Kamala Harris and U.S. Senate candidates that spanned Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Iowa, Montana, Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Florida and Georgia.
