Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC Endorses Elissa Slotkin for U.S. Senate

CFFE PAC Will Run a Multi Million Dollar Independent Expenditure Program in Support of Rep. Slotkin with the Goal of Knocking on More than 800,000 Voters’ Doors

September 10, 2024

WASHINGTON Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of Elissa Slotkin for U.S. Senate. Family-friendly policies that combat the high cost of caregiving are top-of-mind for voters in this election, and Representative Elissa Slotkin has proven herself to be a champion for Michigan’s working families.

CFFE PAC is running one of the country’s largest field operations talking to voters in battleground states this election cycle. This endorsement comes as part of CFFE PAC’s 2024 electoral program and its historic $40 million effort to drive votes for Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Elissa Slotkin, and Democrats in battleground states including Michigan. CFFE PAC is running robust door-to-door field and relational organizing programs, paid advertising, and direct mail to elect candidates who champion policies that prioritize family budgets – including paid leave, quality, affordable child and elder care, and affordable prescription drugs – over Republican extremist agendas that hurt families and make it difficult to get by and impossible to get ahead. CFFE PAC recently announced that it has knocked on one million voters’ doors throughout the battleground states, and aims to knock on another two million voters’ doors in the final two months before Election Day.

In Congress, Elissa Slotkin helped pass historic legislation lowering the cost of prescription drugs for seniors and providing relief for working parents and child care providers.

In contrast, her opponent Mike Rogers is proudly running alongside Donald Trump, whose Project 2025 agenda would increase prescription drug prices for more than 672,000 Michiganders and strip nearly 28,000 low-income children of access to early childhood education through the elimination of the Head Start Program. Additionally, Rogers has sponsored multiple bills in Congress that would restrict access to IVF treatment.

“We know from Elissa Slotkin’s service in the House that her dedication to working families runs deep and that she is a fearless advocate for the people of Michigan,” said Sondra Goldschein, Executive Director of CFFE PAC. “In contrast, her wildly out-of-touch opponent wants to put the government in charge of personal health care decisions and make it harder for people to start families by restricting access to IVF. CFFE PAC is working to make sure Elissa Slotkin defeats Mike Rogers so she can continue advocating for policies in the Senate that help working families like paid family and medical leave and expanding the child tax credit.”

Across the country and in Michigan, voters support kitchen-table economic solutions that will lower the cost of caregiving.

  • 70% of adults would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports expanding child care options for families.
  • Four in five women – nearly 90% of Democratic women and 68% of Republican women – identified paid family and medical leave as an important factor to their vote in the presidential election.
  • 85% of voters in battleground states favor paid parental, family, and medical leave.

“If I had a magic wand I would change the wages,” said veteran home care professional, Henrietta Ivey, who is based in Detroit, Michigan. “As a caregiver and operator of a home care business I know for a fact the wages don’t match the work. More needs to be done, and that’s why I’m voting to elect Elissa Slotkin to the Senate and Vice President Harris to the White House this fall!”

Representative Slotkin is the only candidate in this race with a track record of fighting for people like Henrietta. Elissa Slotkin is for the bipartisan Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act, which would strengthen the child tax credit, and is the co-sponsor of the Lowering Drug Costs for American Families Act, which expands Medicare price negotiation to lower costs for families on private insurance. Further, she voted in favor of the American Rescue Plan Act, which provided millions in relief for child care providers, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped the price of insulin and lowered drug prices for seniors.

The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) is fighting for a future where all people can afford to care for themselves and their loved ones. In 2022, CFFE PAC ran a $13.5 million program communicating with voters about where candidates stand on policies that lower the cost of prescription drugs, ensure paid family and medical leave, and provide affordable elder and child care. In 2020, CFFE PAC spent almost $18 million on a program in support of Kamala Harris and U.S. Senate candidates that spanned Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Iowa, Montana, Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Florida and Georgia.
