CFFE PAC Will Run a Major Independent Expenditure Effort in Macomb and Oakland Counties with the Goal of Knocking on More than 300,000 Voters’ Doors to Flip Critical House Seat
October 10, 2024
WASHINGTON – Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of Judge Carl Marlinga in his bid to represent Michigan’s 10th congressional district, a key pickup opportunity for Democrats in this highly-watched battleground state. This endorsement is part of an initial $1 million investment. CFFE PAC has set an ambitious goal of knocking on more than 300,000 voters’ doors in the 10th district to drive votes for Marlinga. Family-friendly policies that combat the high cost of caregiving are top-of-mind for voters in this election, and Carl Marlinga is the candidate that working families in MI-10 need representing them in Washington.
This endorsement is part of CFFE PAC’s broader effort this cycle to support candidates who prioritize family budgets over the dangerous, out-of-touch policies of their opponents. Since 2020, CFFE PAC has run one of the largest independent expenditure programs in the country supporting candidates like Marlinga. Electing a Democratic trifecta is essential to passing critical policies like paid family leave, investments in affordable child and elder care, and lower drug prices. Democrats need to flip seats like the one in Michigan’s 10th district to win back control of the House and put family budgets at the top of the agenda.
“In Michigan’s 10th congressional district, we have a crucial opportunity to flip a House seat, install a champion for working families, and send an extremist, out-of-touch politician packing. CFFE PAC is proud to support Carl Marlinga and help bring Democrats one seat closer to controlling the House,” said Sondra Goldschein, Executive Director of CFFE PAC. “To pass an agenda that prioritizes working families’ budgets, we need champions like Marlinga in Congress. That’s why CFFE PAC will be out in force every day until Election Day in the 10th district talking to voters about how Carl Marlinga has their backs, and how James’ and Trump’s extremist agenda will hurt Michigan families.”
As a candidate for MI-10, Marlinga has pledged to put cost-lowering policies at the top of his priority list. From backing affordable day care to working to restore reproductive freedom, Marlinga is the only candidate in this race who will put working families above extremist agendas. A staunch advocate of family-friendly economic policies, Marlinga is committed to enacting policies that will ensure everyone has access to good and affordable health care and child care. He has dedicated his life to public service– first as the Macomb County Prosecutor and later as Assistant U.S. Attorney and Judicial Circuit Court Judge, where he expanded opportunities for women and protected seniors. He successfully expanded opportunities for women lawyers in the prosecutor’s office and used his role to protect the financial security of senior community members by helping them recover millions of dollars.
In contrast, Marlinga’s opponent, Rep. John James, is a MAGA extremist who is in lockstep with Donald Trump and out of touch with the economic needs of Michigan’s 10th district. Trump’s Project 2025 platform calls for the elimination of Head Start, a program that provides access to early childhood education for underserved and rural families in Michigan and nationwide.
Michiganders can’t wait for a leader who will put their families first. A study from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation found that child care issues result in an annual estimated loss of $2.88 billion for the state’s economy – which would only be worsened under a Trump presidency. This underscores the urgent need to send leaders like Carl Marlinga to the U.S. House to champion the economic issues that help working families.

The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) is fighting for a future where all people can afford to care for themselves and their loved ones. In 2022, CFFE PAC ran a $13.5 million program communicating with voters about where candidates stand on policies that lower the cost of prescription drugs, ensure paid family and medical leave, and provide affordable elder and child care. In 2020, CFFE PAC spent almost $18 million on a program in support of Kamala Harris and U.S. Senate candidates that spanned Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Iowa, Montana, Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Florida and Georgia.
