Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC Endorses Bob Casey for Re-election to the U.S. Senate

CFFE PAC Will Run a Multimillion Independent Expenditure Program in Support of Sen. Casey with the Goal of Knocking on 1 million Voters’ Doors

September 11, 2024

WASHINGTON – Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) announced its endorsement of Bob Casey for U.S. Senate. Family-friendly policies that combat the high cost of caregiving are top of mind for voters in this election, and Senator Casey has proven himself to be a champion for working families and seniors in Pennsylvania.

CFFE PAC is running one of the country’s largest field operations talking to voters in battleground states this election cycle, including one of the largest independent expenditure field programs in the must-win state of Pennsylvania in partnership with LCV Victory Fund. Every day, CFFE PAC and LCV Victory Fund field teams are meeting with Pennsylvanians face-to-face, laying out for voters what is at stake for working families this November.

This endorsement comes as part of CFFE PAC’s 2024 electoral program and its historic $40 million effort to drive votes for Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Bob Casey, and Democrats in battleground states including Pennsylvania. CFFE PAC is running robust door-to-door field and relational organizing programs, paid advertising, and direct mail to elect candidates who champion policies that prioritize family budgets – including paid leave, quality, affordable child and elder care, and affordable prescription drugs – over Republican extremist agendas that hurt families and make it difficult to get by and impossible to get ahead. CFFE PAC recently announced that it has knocked on one million voters’ doors throughout the battleground states, and aims to knock on another two million voters’ doors in the final two months before Election Day.

Senator Casey has a long record of voting in favor of legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs for seniors and policies that provide relief for working parents and child care providers, including the Inflation Reduction Act and the American Rescue Plan Act.

In contrast, his opponent Dave McCormick is proudly running alongside Donald Trump, whose Project 2025 agenda would block the government from negotiating for cheaper drug prices for Pennsylvanians and strip thousands of children of early childhood education by eliminating  Head Start programs. Additionally, McCormick has advocated for stripping Pennsylvania women of their reproductive rights, including a ban on abortion even in cases of rape and incest.

“Senator Casey is a fierce champion for working families and seniors,” said Sondra Goldschein, Executive Director of CFFE PAC. “He is the only candidate in this race who will prioritize family budgets, as his opponent is hellbent on passing an extreme and out-of-touch agenda. CFFE PAC is out in force knocking on doors and telling voters what’s at stake in this race so we can keep Bob Casey in the Senate to continue advocating for policies that give Pennsylvania families the tools and opportunities they need to thrive.”

Across the country and in Pennsylvania, voters support kitchen-table economic solutions that will lower the cost of caregiving.

  • 6 out of 10 Republican primary voters in Pennsylvania see providing critical care to family members as common sense.
  • 70% of adults would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports expanding child care options for families.
  • Four in five women – nearly 90% of Democratic women and 68% of Republican women – identified paid family and medical leave as an important factor to their vote in the presidential election.
  • 85% of voters in battleground states favor paid parental, family, and medical leave.

“We need people in office who will support seniors and rebuild our communities,” said Wilhemenia Hines, a lifelong caregiver residing in Philadelphia, PA. “That is why I am voting for Vice President Harris and Senator Casey.”

Senator Casey is the only candidate in this race with a track record of fighting for people like Wilhemenia. This year, Senator Casey helped introduce the Long-Term Workforce Support Act to provide substantial new funding to support workers in the long-term care industry, from nursing homes to home care to assisted living facilities. He also voted in favor of the American Rescue Plan Act, which provided millions of dollars in relief for child care providers, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped the price of insulin and lowered drug costs for seniors.

The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) is fighting for a future where all people can afford to care for themselves and their loved ones. In 2022, CFFE PAC ran a $13.5 million program communicating with voters about where candidates stand on policies that lower the cost of prescription drugs, ensure paid family and medical leave, and provide affordable elder and child care. In 2020, CFFE PAC spent almost $18 million on a program in support of Kamala Harris and U.S. Senate candidates that spanned Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Iowa, Montana, Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Florida and Georgia.
